Abstract |
The article is dedicated to the icon of the Virgin of a rare iconography. This icon is a duplication of the image, locally venerated in Poltava Eparchy of the Russain Orthodox Church. The original of that icon was lost. The iconography of the icon goes back to the paintings by Italian artist Carlo Dolci. His images were known by Russian painters of the southern provinces. The style of the icon shows interesting combination of traditional technique with the methods of academic painting. |
