Papers should be up to 40.000 symbols (with spaces), including notes, bibliographical lists, summaries and all accompanying materials. Guidelines for authors are available here

AP2018 call for articles

Additional registration is open for the special session of the conference "Challenges in Displaying Modern and Contemporary Art Collections", scheduled for October 5 and 6 at the New Tretyakov (10 Krymsky Val). The registration is open until the beginning of the session (October 5, 12:00).

The session focuses on international museum practices in creating permanent displays of modern and contemporary art collections. The session includes presentations by directors and chief curators of major international museums, including Matthew Gale (head of displays, Tate Modern), Jan Willem Sieburgh (acting managing director, Stedelijk Museum), Bernard Blistène (director, Centre Pompidou), and other experts and museum professionals. The session will be presided by Olesya Turkina, Yaroslava Bubnova, Victor Misiano and Sergey Khachaturov. 

The discussions will cover national and international collections of modern and contemporary art, different approaches and methods of displaying and interpreting them (including such issues as exhibition design and buying policies), and ways of reflecting historic collisions of the past in art museums.

"Modern and Contemporary Art" section (October 3–4, The New Tretyakov):

In addition to the published conference program, a new presentation is included – by Mikhail Kamensky (independent researcher, Russia), "Jacques Lipchitz and Feliks Dzerzhinsky". The presentation is scheduled for "Russia and the West: Conventional Borders" session (October 3, 15:00–18:00).

 

"Western European Medieval Art" section (October 3, MSU Faculty of History):

The presentation by Andrey Egorov (Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Russia) "Prayers of the Magistrates: Typology and Decoration Program of German and Netherlandish Town Hall Chapels in the 14th–16th Centuries" is cancelled.
