The Department of History and Theory of Art at the Faculty of History of Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Institute of History of Saint Petersburg State University invite you to take part in the Sixth international conference “Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art”.
The conference will take place on October 27-31, 2015, in Moscow, at the Faculty of History of Lomonosov Moscow State University.
The 2015 conference will be held in cooperation with Moscow Kremlin Museums.

The conference is dedicated to the actual problems of theory and history of visual arts and architecture, as well as to the problems of interaction between Russian and other national artistic traditions. The main topic of the 2015 conference will be “Renaissance and the Art of Europe”. We also accept applications on other subjects regarding the history of art from the Antiquity to Modern times. Besides the plenary other prospected sessions will cover the following fields: Ancient art, Eastern Christian Art, Old Russian art, Western Medieval art, Art of the Renaissance, Western art ca. 1600-1900, World art of the 20th c. and Contemporary art, Russian art ca. 1700-1900, Russian art of the 20th c. and Contemporary Russian art, Theory of art, "Artistic Culture and Cult: Actual Eternity".
Communications can be presented orally or in posters.
We plan to make a special session in Moscow Kremlin Museums in order to investigate the interaction between the art of Renaissance and of Old Rus, as well as the reception of Western art in Early Modern and Modern Russian culture.
The working languages of the conference will be Russian and English.
