Abstract

The aim of the article is the analysis of the features of the furniture produced at the factories of St. Petersburg at the last stage of Eclecticism. The study is based on the analysis of archival documents reflecting the activities of factories in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The influence on the forms and decor of the furniture of this period has been considered. Special attention has been paid to enameling widespread during this period. The article reveals the stylistic preferences in the choice of furniture forms, especially the Louis XVI style. The eclectic furniture of the late 19th and early 20th century is a distinctive stage of the evolution of furniture design and production. It was formed on the basis of fundamental knowledge about the original forms of historical styles, which was not previously accessible. An important role was played by technical capabilities. The creation of factories equipped with libraries, design workshops, and machine parks dramatically increased the quantity and quality of the produced furniture.
