Profile
Tatiana Ilyina entered the Department of Art History, Faculty of History, Zhdanov State university in Leningrad in 1951 (now St. Petersburg State University). She graduated in 1956 and completed her PhD in 1963. From 1967 on she has been teaching art history at the Faculty of History. In 1980 she finished her second PhD “Ivan Veshnyakov. Role of the genre of portrait in Russian painting of the 18thcentury.” Became a professor in 1984. From 1996 to 2006 she was appointed the head of the Department of History of Art and after the department was separated (into departments of Russian and Western art), she continued as the head of the Department of Russian Art from 2007 to 2011.
Tatiana Ilyina is a renowned academic, she takes part in a number of international conferences.
Tatiana Ilyina is a member of the dissertation council at the Academy of Fine Arts, at St. Petersburg Conservatory and until 2012 was a member of council at St. Petersburg State university.
She is a member of the editorial board for the “Art bulletin” magazine and for a “Mikhail Lomonosov and the Elizabeth time” (St. Petersburg, November 2011) conference. Tatiana Ilyina is also a member of the Artists Union and International Association of Art Historians.
