I am so pleased to have been able to present my research during 26 years about The Gotlandic history which is the history of the Varangians, the al-Rus' and the unique Gotlandic churches with Macedonian Renaissance art. This is not possible to study at Swedish universities. The early Gotlandic history is the Russian rivers. There we have a common history

I wanted to thank Organizing Committee for all of the hard work and beautiful organization of this signficicant conference. The success of the 6th Actual Problems of Theory and History of art is a result of interesting communications, prolific discussions, international contacts that have been established, and, above all, because the event was held in atmosphere of mutual respect and sharing of experiences. Hope to meet you again next year!

This big conference was organized with care, attention and intelligence. We were hosted in comfort, the conference spaces were spectacular, the food excellent and the visits and activities varied and interesting. The trip to Novgorod was outstanding. Even the weather was good: cold but sunny and with a beautiful northern light. Great Russian hospitality was matched by an authentic desire to communicate with foreign scholars, exchange opinions and ideas, explain the research in art history that is currently being done in Russia and follow papers given in foreign languages. The simultaneous translations provided for plenary sessions, and remarkable linguistic capabilities on the part of the organizers and most Russian scholars made it possible to have real scholarly exchanges. It was my first time in Russia. This excellent experience makes me want to follow it up with other visits and look for opportunities to keep up the friendly exchanges started in Saint Petersburg with such stimulating and lively scholars.

The 2014 Conference in St Petersburg was magnificent in its organisation, hospitality and sense of occasion. To provide such a clear structure coordinating a very large number of contributions was a masterpiece of planning. The hospitality was extremely helpful in smoothing all the practicalities of the days. Finally, the tone of the occasion was set by the exuberance of the fireworks and the richness of the Hermitage collections. What is so important about all that was the way it created a wonderfully fruitful context for fostering collegial exchange and friendship. Congratulations to our hosts.

The conference “Actual problems of theory and history of art” has become one of the key moments of each academic year for me. High level of presentations, wide range of academics, interesting after events – all that makes the conference a decent basis for prolific discussions and professional development. I would like to stress amazing work of the organisers and volunteers and their equal abilities of solving all sorts of problems from accommodating guests to editing the catalogues. Conference’s compendiums are on a very high level and are included into the RINTs elibrary, which is very important for young researchers.

I would like to say many thanks for the amazing organisation of the conference. It was not my first time to take part in the conference, but every year I get only positive vibes from the main theme, invited speakers, quality of presentations, catalogues and after events! I wish you to keep on with this great project! Thank you

Undoubtedly, this was the key cultural event of last year. Thanks to the high level of this conference, we can touch on the most crucial problems in art, discuss them and try to form a new vision and new approaches to presenting the study of art. A particular advantage is the opportunity to discuss this on the international level, which gives the opportunity to recognize and feel understood by scholars of distant cultures.

The conference “Actual problems of theory and history of art” is a grandiose academic forum, which brings together art professionals and a wide range of amateurs. I would like to stress a high level of academic research, creative and innovative approach to material and speakers’ original way of thinking. This is what makes the conference successful. Thanks to the organisers! Good luck!

I am glad that the conference “Actual problems of theory and history of art” has become a yearly tradition, an event, which brings together not only two major universities, but also specialists from museums and universities from around the world. As a participant of three conferences I can note the excellent level of organisation and also the importance of compendiums that were published after each conference. It is very useful for young professionals to both present their works and to be active listeners by asking questions and participating in discussions.

I want to say thanks for the high level of organisation of the conference, for inviting interesting speakers, for an opportunity to dive into current discussion of problematic themes, which is led by representatives of different academic schools and countries. I am waiting for new discoveries and revelations on the coming conference.
