Abstract | Twelve old photos from the collection of the Hermitage Department of Greek and Roman antiquities are discussed in the article. It has been ascertained that in 1901 an Odessa collector, junior captain Eugene A. Shumansky offered ancient vases, terracotta figurines and plaster casts shown on the photos to the Imperial Hermitage. After long negotiations his collection, however, was rejected. Some of these antiquities the author of the article has discovered in the collection of The Odessa Archaeological Museum. | ||||||||
