I took part in the very first conference in 2010. I am happy to see that it has become a yearly event of such a significant scale and that it attracts more young professionals every year.

V International conference “Actual problems of theory and history of art” is a significant event, which had a dazzling opening in the State Hermitage Theatre.
No doubts that one of the main advantages of the conference was that is gave young professionals an opportunity to represent their works and ideas along with renowned experts. This dialogue, which was also joined by experts from abroad, is very important especially in the 21st century, when our society reaches another level of interaction and becomes more dynamic. The significance of this dialogue is well illustrated by creating a possibility to exchange various opinions, which leads to a more objective understanding of the reality around us. In particular, this fact is reflected in a wide range of sections and a variety of interesting presentations. The only thing I regret was that all the sections worked at the same time: I had to choose one in favour of the others. Nevertheless, I can read texts of the presentations I missed in the compendium later.
Tours to the restoration centre at “Staraya Derevnya”, Pavlovsk, Novgorod and to other places were rather important as well. Every trip was very well organised and turned out to be fairly enriching.
Finally, I want to say many thanks to the organising committee of the conference and to volunteers, whose work helped to hold it at the highest standards.

“Actual problems of theory and history of art” is a child of SPbSU and MSU. This conference gives students and young professionals a chance to showcase themselves and learn from experts, get an experience of engaging in an academic dialogue and expand the horizons of their themes and general understanding of art history. It is nice that both renowned academics and experts from abroad take part in the “Actual problems of theory and history of art” conference. And of course, this amazingly warm and friendly atmosphere of every single conference in both Moscow and Saint-Petersburg is the best thing to remember.

This outstanding conference gives students a chance to get involved into the world of academia and bring some new, probably not yet that valid, but already decent ideas in it. I would like to say thanks to the organising committee and to everyone, who helps to make this yearly lively event real.

Huge thanks to the organisers for the amazing conference, for its perfect management and busy schedule, special events and friendly atmosphere. It is a pleasure to take part in events of such level and at the same time it is quite a responsibility. The conference allows not just presenting your own achievements to the academic community, but also hearing presentations by leading Russian and foreign experts and getting to know the most recent research tendencies. Thanks for the invitation to take part in the conference in 2015!

Huge thanks to the organisers of this unique forum, which has become a really important event for the two universities and many young researchers in a very short time. This is an amazing opportunity and an impulse to exchange different opinions, to sustain professional network and personal connections, to get to know recent tendencies in the art history research and to share – for many young researches for the first time – the results of your own academic achievements and learn how to do it from experts. Special thanks to the State Hermitage and, in particular, to the department of Classical Antiquities that instantly supported the idea of holding the conference. The conference is getting bigger, its programme is becoming busier and sometimes it is quite hard to follow the work of all sections. However, despite all responsibilities that its grandiose scale and image of institutions imply, the main advantage of the conference is that it creates an atmosphere of a big event, a celebration. Inspiration and a lively dialogue bring all the participants together: researchers of different generations, those who present their works and those who listen, volunteers. A sense of movement transforms this academic event into a cultural forum at a city scale. I wish you prosperity and new interesting turns on your way.

The conference “Actual problems of theory and history of art” is organised at the highest level every single year. It is a real celebration of academia, culture and art! Participants make numerous useful contacts, get new knowledge in various aspects of art, join international community and get invited to publish their works. Excellent quality of the illustrated compendium after the conference is a great achievement from the side of the organisers. I recommend the conference to my friends, PhD students, both experienced researchers and those, who just start their academic career.

I have attended the conference since 2012. This forum gives students an opportunity to represent their works along with experts and this fact makes a great support to young researchers. The cooperation of such big institutions as SPbSU, State Hermitage and MSU reveals high results. Foreign guests come to the conference. With no doubts, we can say that the conference was organised at a very high professional level and it went very well.

The conference “Actual problems of theory and history of art” is one of the most impressive Russian forums, where researchers can discuss all problematic themes that appear in Russian and world art.
