Abstract

В статье рассмотрен спектр значений термина «панорама», прослежена эволюция этого жанра в Европе и России, обозначена разница между панорамами в строгом смысле слова и тем типом изображений, который принято так называть теперь. Автор приходит к выводу, что Дж. Аткинсон был первым мастером, продемонстрировавшим панораму русского города в Европе, и одним из пионеров этого художественного явления в России.
